Mature and Spat
Our oyster business includes a hatchery, nursery, leases for open water cultivation and two shore sites. Most sales are highest quality large Sydney Rock Oysters for wholesalers and hatchery reared nursery grown young oysters for other growers.
The permanent team is Tony Troup, Kerry Simmonds, Mitch Proudfoot and Dane Hodgkinson. Tony has been the owner and operator of Camden Haven Oysters for over 30 years. He has a Master of Science degree and is actively involved in the oyster industry.
Kerry has been working with Tony for over 15 years. He is the Farm Manager. Mitch focuses on the hatchery and works in all other areas. Dane works mostly with the lease oysters as well as other oyster farm work. Terry Miles helps out on weekends. Abbey works as a casual aquaculture assistant.
The Camden Haven is on the Mid North Coast of NSW, about 400km north of Sydney. There are three towns nestled beneath North Brother mountain (Doorigan National Park) with a population of about 8,000. The relatively small catchment of the pristine Camden Haven River is ideally located in the middle of the growing range of the native Sydney rock oyster.
